Iron Man MK42 suit history

The Mark XLII (Mark 42), also known as the “Extremis” or “Prodigal Son,” is an Autonomous Prehensile Propulsion Suit Prototype and Tony Stark’s forty-second armor, as well as one of the numerous freshly produced suits created shortly after the events of The Avengers.

It was a prototype for Mark XLIII, who appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

It was the armor featured in the film Iron Man 3, and it first appeared in the film at the beginning, when Tony develops it in his basement and tests the suit’s functionality.

It was seen as Tony’s main suit throughout the film, and it was subsequently destroyed by self-destruction after Tony ordered J.A.R.V.I.S. to do so after remotely manipulating it to lock Aldrich Killian within it to blow him up and kill him off for good.
